We the undersigned draw the attention of the Legislature to the following
The January 2007 decision, made by BC Minister of Forests and Range Richard Coleman, to delete 28 000 Ha from three of Western Forest Product’s Tree Farm Licenses (TFL) was a betrayal of public interest; it creates a windfall for WFP while retaining no compensation for the public or assurance that public values will be protected.
Minister Coleman’s poor performance as a public servant is further illustrated by his Coastal Forest Action Plan, which increases rate of cut, fails to protect local jobs and lacks substantive action.
We call upon the Legislature to support our call for the resignation of Rich Coleman, and his replacement with a Forests Minister who protects the public interest.
