I want a new Forest Minister that:

- Has the courage to plan for a long-term, value-added forest industry at the expense of the short term interests of the forest majors.
- Actually has experience in forestry and has given it some thought prior to being handed the job. In other words, I want a Forest Minister who actually knows what he's talking about and can think for himself.
- Has the integrity to bring differing interests together, rather than blatantly try to drive them apart (for example, saying 'we don't need any more parks' to truck-loggers seemed like an obvious attempt to drive a wedge between two different interests that need to be patiently brought together).
- Actually wants the job
- Is able to honestly and straightforwardly answer direct questions in the Legislature rather than resorting to useless personal attacks.
- Stops claiming to be protecting jobs while eroding them in both the short and long term.
